Some participants and social media users have expressed their dissatisfaction after the Afro Nation festival organizers announced that the event will be cancelled due to security concerns.
Netizens have accused the organizers of underserving the participants by failing to put in place sufficient safeguards for their safety.
International and local artists, including American rapper Meek Mill, Nigerian singers P Square, Oxlade, and Tiwa Savage, as well as Ghanaian artists Gyakie and Kuami Eugene, placed on an electrifying performance on day one. However, on day two, the performance was cut short due to alleged crowd control issues at the main entrance.
One of the event’s MCs, Eddie Khadhi, said that the event had to cease because management and police officers were having trouble keeping the crowd from circumventing security measures and entering the event area.
