Serwaa Amihere, a broadcast journalist, was honored as a Bonwire Kente ambassador on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Since the first president of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah wore kente, the cloth has been a popular choice for clothing in Ghana and beyond.
As part of the government’s commitment to promoting tourism in the nation, the ultramodern Bonwire Kente Museum in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region has been officially commissioned by Hajia Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana.
Serwaa Amihere, the Kente Ambassador, will undoubtedly serve as the festival’s face and main influencer. The Ghana Tourism Authority organized the event, which also marked the beginning of an annual Kente festival at Bonwire.
Her ambassadorial task is to promote Kente clothes to attract foreigners to the country, particularly Bonwire and its environs. Additionally, it is anticipated that the appointment of Serwa Amihere will help domestic travel.
Serwaa Amihere promised to succeed in her new position and thanked the Second Lady and everyone in attendance for the honor and chance to represent Bonwire Kente.
