A Nigerian man has been arrested for attempting to murder his girlfriend for a money ritual

A young man from Abia State, Nigeria, was arrested for allegedly attempting to murder his girlfriend for sakawa, a traditional form of internet fraud. The suspect confessed to authorities that his primary source of income was sakawa, and he was planning to escalate his operations by making a human sacrifice of his girlfriend.

The suspect, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, admitted during investigations that he had been in a relationship with the intended victim for three years. He further revealed that he had conspired with a friend to kill her to fulfill the requirements of a money ritual that was supposed to significantly increase his wealth.

According to his testimony, he was under instructions from a local witch doctor to provide a human sacrifice for the ritual. In a chilling recount of their plan, the suspect related how they restrained the girl and were in transit to the fetish priest when law enforcement officers intercepted them.

The police have since apprehended the duo and taken them into custody. The rescued victim is currently receiving necessary support and care from authorities. Further investigations are ongoing to ascertain the extent of the suspect’s criminal activities and to bring all accomplices to justice.
