The leader of the New Force movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, also referred to as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar, recently met with former President John Mahama, which has raised fresh questions regarding his political aspirations. The motive for Cheddar’s meeting with Mahama remains unknown.

The meeting occurred during the last-minute postponement of “The Convention,” an anticipated public lecture that was creating a lot of buzz.

In the beginning, Cheddar was credited with founding the New Africa Foundation. He had invited notable African leaders, including Timi Frank, PLO Lumumba, Peter Obi, and Arikana Chihombori-Quao, to an Accra event that would catalyze the New African Convention movement. However, “The Convention” was abruptly called off, leaving many questions unanswered.

During the press conference, Cheddar confirmed his presidential aspirations and vowed to unveil his policies for leading Ghana. Cheddar, however, insisted that the New Africa platform aims to empower African leaders to educate Ghanaians and Africans.

Speakers at “The Convention,” including PLO Lumumba of Kenya, Peter Obi of Nigeria, Julius Malema of South Africa, and R. Arikana of Zimbabwe, were originally scheduled to address the topic of “Igniting the Voices of Africa.”

Deputy Director Dr. Nadia Adongo Fynn attributed it to an unforeseen state event necessitating the last-minute withdrawal of venue permission, despite initial approval in November 2023. The Directorate expressed regret for the inconvenience and mentioned a refund of the venue fee.
