Ghana’s Interior Minister has called for stronger regional cooperation to address the growing security challenges facing the African continent, stressing that no single country can tackle the threats alone.

Speaking on the state of security in Africa, the Minister noted that the continent continues to grapple with complex issues including terrorism, violent extremism, transnational organised crime, cybercrime, and cross-border criminal activities, all of which require coordinated and sustained action.

He emphasised that collective action among African nations is essential to strengthening peace, stability, and the safety of citizens, urging governments to deepen collaboration through intelligence sharing, joint security operations, and enhanced border management.

According to the Minister, regional partnerships and stronger institutional cooperation will play a critical role in preventing emerging threats and responding effectively to evolving security risks.

He also underscored the importance of investing in modern security infrastructure, capacity building, and technology to improve the operational readiness of security agencies across the continent.

The Interior Minister further called on African leaders, policymakers, and international partners to remain committed to fostering peace and addressing the root causes of insecurity through sustainable development, good governance, and inclusive policies.

His remarks reinforce the growing consensus that Africa’s security challenges require a united continental approach, with collaboration and shared responsibility remaining key to achieving lasting peace and stability.
