The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has destroyed illicit drugs valued at approximately GH¢37 million in a major move aimed at combating the illegal drug trade and protecting public health.
The destroyed substances, which were seized during various operations, were disposed of under the supervision of relevant authorities in line with approved procedures for handling narcotic materials.
NACOC officials described the exercise as part of ongoing efforts to prevent the circulation of illegal drugs and send a strong warning to individuals and groups involved in the trafficking and distribution of narcotics.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to intensifying surveillance, enforcement operations, and public education campaigns to address the growing threat posed by illicit drugs in Ghana.
Authorities have also called for greater public cooperation, urging citizens to provide information that could assist law enforcement agencies in identifying and stopping illegal drug activities.
The destruction of the seized substances marks another step in the country’s wider fight against narcotics abuse and trafficking.
