The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) are set to take charge of a nationwide post-flood clean-up and recovery exercise, as authorities move to restore normalcy in areas battered by recent flooding.
According to Brigadier General Okae-Yeboah, the military has been mobilised to support civil authorities in clearing debris, disinfecting affected communities, and assisting with recovery efforts in flood-hit zones.
He explained that the operation will combine logistical support, engineering expertise, and disciplined manpower to accelerate rehabilitation efforts and reduce the risk of secondary health outbreaks often associated with flooding.
The intervention comes amid growing concerns over damaged infrastructure, displaced residents, and environmental hazards left behind after heavy rains submerged several communities.
Residents in affected areas are expected to see increased military presence as clean-up teams work alongside local assemblies, emergency responders, and other state agencies.
Officials say the initiative is part of a broader national response strategy aimed at restoring public safety, rebuilding critical infrastructure, and strengthening disaster preparedness for future emergencies.
The Armed Forces’ involvement underscores the severity of the situation and the government’s push for a coordinated, high-capacity response to the aftermath of the floods.
