Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has strongly denied any involvement in the death of former Upper East Regional Chairman Adams Mahama, while calling on party members to embrace unity ahead of the upcoming delegates conference.

Afoko, in addressing the long-standing controversy surrounding Mahama’s death, rejected any suggestion linking him to the tragic incident and insisted that he has always maintained his innocence.

The former NPP chairman appealed to party supporters and delegates to focus on strengthening the party rather than allowing past disputes and internal disagreements to continue creating divisions.

His comments come as the NPP prepares for a major delegates conference, where the party’s future direction, leadership arrangements, and strategies for rebuilding political strength are expected to take centre stage.

Afoko stressed the need for reconciliation, tolerance, and collective effort among party members, arguing that unity remains essential if the NPP is to regain public confidence and compete effectively in future elections.

The former chairman’s remarks are expected to reignite discussions within the party about internal cohesion, leadership renewal, and the importance of resolving long-standing tensions as the NPP seeks to reorganise its structures.

As delegates prepare to gather, attention will be on whether calls for unity will translate into meaningful reconciliation within the party ranks.
