Accra, Ghana – The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly rejected claims of abandonment and delays surrounding the Afari Military Hospital project, insisting instead that the facility is nearing completion and is already 98% finished.

The party pushed back against growing public criticism and political accusations suggesting that the long-anticipated hospital project had stalled or been neglected. According to the NPP, such claims are misleading and do not reflect the current state of work on the ground.

Officials maintaining the government’s position say significant progress has been made, with only minor finishing works remaining before the facility can be fully operational. They argue that the project stands as a key part of efforts to expand military and national healthcare infrastructure.

The dispute has reignited political debate over infrastructure delivery and accountability, with critics demanding greater transparency on timelines and funding, while the NPP maintains that tangible results are being ignored in favor of political point-scoring.

Supporters of the project insist that once completed, the Afari Military Hospital will significantly improve access to specialized healthcare services, particularly for military personnel and surrounding communities.

As tensions over the project’s status continue to rise, attention is now focused on when the facility will officially open its doors—and whether the final phase will indeed match the government’s near-completion claims.
