Tensions are rising in Salman after the Salman Queen Mother voiced strong concerns over what she describes as a growing threat to traditional authority in the area, warning that the sanctity of chieftaincy structures could be under serious strain.
The Queen Mother, visibly agitated by recent developments, says the influence and respect traditionally accorded to customary leadership is gradually being eroded, sparking unease within the community’s leadership circles.
Her remarks have triggered heated discussions among residents and opinion leaders, with many debating whether modern governance systems and local disputes are undermining long-established cultural institutions.
According to her, the situation—if not urgently addressed—could weaken the authority of traditional leaders and disrupt the social cohesion that customary systems have long maintained in the community.
Some elders in the area reportedly share her concerns, arguing that increasing political interference, land disputes, and youth resistance are all contributing to the perceived decline in respect for traditional leadership.

Others, however, believe the matter is being exaggerated, insisting that traditional authority remains intact but is simply evolving alongside modern governance structures.
The Queen Mother’s emotional intervention has now placed the issue firmly in the public spotlight, with calls growing for dialogue between traditional leaders, local authorities, and community stakeholders to address the underlying tensions.
As debates intensify, many in Salman say they are watching closely to see whether the concerns raised will lead to reforms or further deepen divisions within the traditional leadership system.
