A disturbing trend among students has resurfaced as a young Ghanaian student opened up about being trapped in a cult, admitting they joined initially out of curiosity but now desperately seeking a way out.

In a heartfelt appeal, the student described feeling overwhelmed by peer pressure, intimidation, and fear of retaliation, highlighting the psychological and social challenges faced by individuals trying to extricate themselves from secretive organizations. “I never imagined it would get this controlling,” the student reportedly said, calling for advice on safe ways to leave without endangering themselves or loved ones.

Experts on cult dynamics warn that leaving such groups can be risky, emphasizing the importance of confidentiality, support networks, and professional counseling. Many organizations and NGOs in Ghana provide guidance and rehabilitation programs for students and young people entangled in cult activities.

Authorities and school administrators have been urged to intensify awareness campaigns, educate students on the dangers of cult involvement, and provide safe channels for reporting and exiting these groups.

This case shines a spotlight on the ongoing challenge of youth recruitment into secret societies and the urgent need for preventive measures and support systems to protect vulnerable students.
