Representatives of Apple Inc. have held a high‑level meeting with the Director‑General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaa Donkor, to address concerns over the increasing circulation of counterfeit Apple products in Ghana. The delegation, led by Collin Denyer, engaged CID leadership to discuss how to strengthen efforts against fake devices and accessories that are being sold in the local market.

COP Donkor said the engagement focused on trademark and brand protection and highlighted the growing threat posed by counterfeit Apple products, which not only deceive unsuspecting consumers but can also pose safety risks and undermine legitimate businesses. She explained that the CID is actively pursuing leads in investigations involving fraudulent trademarks and the distribution of fake goods.

The collaboration between Apple and the CID is expected to improve intelligence sharing, enhance technical verification of genuine products, and strengthen the ability of law enforcement to identify and dismantle criminal networks involved in the counterfeit trade. Both parties emphasized the importance of protecting consumers, enforcing intellectual property laws, and disrupting illegal activities linked to fake electronics in Ghana’s technology market.
