Accra — The CEO of the Zongo Development Fund has made explosive allegations against the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming that the fund was left with a paltry GH¢221 at the end of their administration.

According to the CEO, the shocking revelation exposes a serious lack of financial planning and accountability during the previous government’s tenure, leaving ongoing projects and community initiatives in a precarious state.

“The NPP left the fund with just GH¢221,” the CEO said, expressing disbelief at the minimal resources available to continue development programs for Zongo communities across Ghana. “This is unacceptable for a fund that is supposed to empower and uplift these areas.”

The Zongo Development Fund was established to support education, infrastructure, and social welfare in predominantly Muslim communities, and stakeholders say the alleged underfunding has hindered the implementation of vital projects.

Social media and political commentators have reacted strongly to the claims. Some argue the allegation underscores mismanagement and political negligence, while supporters of the NPP have called for evidence and cautioned against politicizing development funds.

The CEO’s statement has reignited debates about accountability, proper fund management, and the role of successive governments in sustaining community development programs.

For now, the allegation has intensified scrutiny of government practices and raised questions about how the Zongo Development Fund can recover and fulfill its mandate amid limited resources.
