Ghlagatin reported as, A letter signed by the President has directed the Finance Ministry led by Mr. Ken Ofori Atta to initiate procedures and secure a loan from the International Monetary Fund.
Interestingly millions of Ghanaians on social media have started sending messages to IMF’ s official facebook page not to grant Ghana the loan. Although Government has explained that going for the loan is the best option to recover from the woes of Covid- 19 and improve the economy, some Ghanaians are suggesting IMF rejects Ghana’ s request.
Their reason for such messages was that His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo will use the money for Private Jet when given. IMF in response to their messages also replied ” Hi, thanks for contacting us. We have received your message and thanks for telling us” .
One angry facebook user wants to travel from Sunyani to IMF headquarters just to stop the deal from going through. ” Pls how much is Dropping from SUNYANI to IMF? I want to Travel and see if they can cancel this loan. Going to IMF is not a bad movement, but my worry is about the scammers behind it(The Men)” . Thousands of similar messages protesting against the IMF loan have also been sent and successfully delivered. ” They will share the money and I will not get mine. Mr Presidoo when u go remember me in your prayers and I add my cut wai. We Taya for Ghana. When Fundamentals of the Economy are Weak, the exchange rate (IMF)! will expose you. ”
Meanwhile, Ex President John Dramani Mahama has stated that Akuffo Addo’s decision to tun to IMF is welcoming. Although it’s late, he sees it as the best option for Ghana now considering the current economic situation emanating from the President’s mismanagement.
