The President, Nana Akufo Addo and Vice President Bawumia founds themselves wanting as what they said in 2015 after Ex President Mahama went for a bailout at the IMF comes back to hunt them. What goes around comes around, If karma doesn’ t catch up, God will surely pick up the slack.

The President His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo has directed the Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori Atta to initiate formally with the International Monetary Fund for a loan facilty. It might interest you to know that, President Akufo Addo who was then the Presidential candidate for NPP was one of the few people who spoke immediately after NDC went to the IMF.

In his tweet dated 19th April, 2015 posted exactly at 1: 25pm which is 7 years ago, His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo said ” For the first time in history, an oil rich country, some five years into oil production is seeking a bailout from the IMF” . He’ s on record to have stated categorically that Ghana an oil blessed nation does not need IMF loan. He went further to blame Ex President Mahama for been incompetent and mismanaging the economy.

A month later, on 24th March, 2015, Dr Bawumia with one of the popular Methodist Hymns, will your anchor hold also said ” Mr Chairman, the IMF bailout was totally avoidable.

We advised Government (John Mahama) but he said he won’ t listen to anyone. Now that their propaganda has been exposed by economic reality, they are running to the IMF. If Mahama had listened to our advise there wouldn’ t be any need for IMF”

Seven years later, Ghana is back to the IMF under the same President and Vice who protested against. The question on the lips of many Ghanaians is what has changed this time around?
