DAY 2: “Macho” Man With AK- 47 Gun Arrested At Arise Ghana Demonstration


The Ghana Police Service on the second day of the Arise Ghana protest has arrested one of the protestors, Mr Yusif who is believed to have in his possession a gun. The suspect Yusif according to sources an ex national security officer who came to the demonstration with a pistol.

Police after gathering intelligence quickly arrested him and has been sent to the headquarters for further investigations. A friend of Mr Yusif who spoke to TV3 news confirmed that his counterpart has been arrested to be interrogated.

Although he couldn’ t expanciate if he was really with a gun, he explained that was the only reason police gave for Yusif’ s arrest. After series of chaotic scenes recorded yesterday, the reason why Yusif brought the pistol to the grounds or what actually motivated his decision has not been established. However the Police said there would have been the worse case scenario if he was not captured on time.

Meanwhile, a leading member of NDC and an organiser of the demonstration, Mr Joshua Akamba speaking after the arrest made it empathic that such action by the Ghana Police service will not frustrate and intimidate them. ” We will make case against the Police.

Whiles they are making case against us, we will also make case, we will press charges against them. Tell them that we are not afraid of their intimidation. Nkrumah came out of jail and became president we will rescue this country. ”

Mr. Bernard Mornah, a leading member of the protesters has announced that a new route for today’s protest has been drawn. Unlike yesterday, Arise Ghana members will first coverage at the El Wak Stadium and will be using the Liberation Road. Focus will be on marching straight to Parliament.
