Ghlagatin reported as, Arise Ghana, a youth pressure group scheduled a demonstration to picket at the Jubilee House on 28th and 29th June. However the Ghana Police Service has resorted to a court action to stop the demonstration. Despite the court action, the National Youth Organiser of the NDC, George Opare Addo has stated clearly that the demonstration will come on. Mr George Opare Addo claimed that NPP is hiding behind the Ghana Police Service to stop their demonstration.
In his opinion the IGP is just a toy doing the bidding for His Excelllency Nana Akufo Addo. ” The IGP has turned out to be a puppet of a corrupt regime.
If the Akufo Addo/Bawumia government has performed to the satisfaction of all, why would it be remote- controlling the IGP to block a peaceful street protest? History has it that failed governments, like the Akufo Addo/Bawumia government, always resort to weakening of otherwise independent State institutions in order to have a field day to steal without anyone raising a winker” In addition, Mr Bernard Morna has also indicated that the protest will not be cancelled but will come on as scheduled.
Arise Ghana plans to move through the Nima Police Station street to the Arko- Agyei inter- change and end at the Frontage of the Jubilee House where they will picket until 10PM.
The motive of this protest according to Arise Ghana is to speak against the frequent increase in fuel prices, demand for accountability on Covid funds and also probe into the Achimota Forest lands which have been allegedly shared among NPP appointees.
Make a bold statement against increased police brutality on Ghanaians and state- sponsored killing of innocent Ghanaians, as well as the growing culture of human rights abuses under the watch of Akufo Addo.
