Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a member of parliament for Assin Central, recalled a traumatic encounter he had with former President John Agyekum Kufuor in which the latter expelled him from his home as a result of what he claimed was a lie given by a young man named Ato Eshun in June 2020.
Speaking to Paul Adom- Otchere on Good Evening Ghana, Mr. Agyapong revealed that ” this Ato guy” had informed Dr. Richard Winfred Anane that he [Kennedy Agyapong] was going to be supporting Nana Akufo- Addo instead of President Kufuor’ s candidate of choice, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen] prior to the 2008 general elections where the then ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) had 17 aspirants He continued by saying that the late President Kufuor did not have the time to hear his side of the story. He said he had talked to Ato Eshun at Minister Kofi Ada’ s office about money he was ” chasing, ” and they had gotten into a discussion about the prospects of the 17 candidates for president.
Kennedy Agyapong claimed that he told Ato that Alan Kyerematen was in the lead before he left for America, but that upon his return, the support for Alan Kyerematen had changed due to hysterical justifications. ” Alan had raised nearly 13 billion [cedis], and some people were using that against him because they didn’ t understand why. So I said that Nana Addo is now slightly ahead of Alan as a result of the fundraising, he recalled.
Agyapong claimed that Joseph Danquah Smith, also knowm as the former Central Regional Chairman of the NPP, hinted at something to him.
