The NDC Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has among other allegations claimed that contract of over 200 employees working at the National Cathedral has been terminated.
In an article posted on his official facebook handle, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto revealed that Government in reality is lacking funds to complete the project but due to propaganda His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo wants to go on at all cost.
Due to lack of funds, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa claimed project contractors had to suspend work since March because of lack of funds. The suspension of the project didn’ t end there as over 200 workers were laid off by the company.
Appointments of more than 200 employees terminated (see evidence attached). The company in it’ s letter said the sacking is because there are no funds to pay their salaries.
Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa further exposed the total amount of money the Akufo Addo led administration has wasted on the so called National Cathedral project.
” So far, adding this latest exposé to our previous leaks, the Akufo- Addo government has spent a mind- boggling GHS199, 832, 603. 00 of taxpayer funds on a cathedral which was originally presented to Ghanaians as a personal pledge to God that will not be executed with taxpayer funds” he alleged.
To him, he sees the National Cathedral as a new way or a deceptive way deploy by His Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo and his cohorts to deliberately steal taxpayers money under the pretense of National Cathedral.
” This GHS200 MILLION cathedral- gate has turned out to be the biggest history. Clearly, in the name of a cathedral project, a corrupt slush fund has been created to siphon taxpayer funds From the suffering messes on the blind side of Parliament, the Auditor- General, CSOAs and other accountability systems. ”
