The former President John Dramani Mahama just like the Presidents of Ghana has had his fair share of name calling and nicknames during his tenure of office. Some of the funny and interesting nicknames given to him by Ghanaians are compiled below.


Ex President Mahama got the nickname ” papa no” after his alleged affairs with actor and social media influencer Tracy Boakye and Mzbel broke out. Although Mr Mahama’ s name was not mentioned in the leaked video, most NPP members claimed it was him to the extent that Ofoase Ayirebi MP, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah made references to it in Parliament.

In one of his speeches, John Dramani Mahama said ” I have seen more demonstrations and strikes in my first two years. I don’ t think it can get worse. It is said that when you kill a goat and you frighten it with a knife, it doesn’ t fear the knife because it is dead already.I have the dead goat syndrome” . This statement earned him the nickname dead goat.


The nickname which means king of power outages came at the height of dumsor in Ghana from 2012.

According those who gave this name, the type dumsor was unprecedented in Ghanaian history and only makes him king who failed woefully in the energy sector.


 Ex President John Dramani Mahama was all over starting new projects and constructing new roads few days to 2016 Elections.

His hasty style of commissioning made Ghanaians believe he’s just trying to trick voters and politicians especially NPP started callin him Commissioner General.


Out of the many nicknames Mr. Mahama got whiles in power, ONAAPO is one of the interesting. There wasn’t any NDC campaign in 2020 where the name Onaapo accompanied by it’s song was not mentioned
