The Principal State Attorney, Mrs Sefakor Batsa on Monday, 20th June, 2022 has revealed to the Accra High Court the owner of the fingerprints and footprints collected at the house of deceased New Patriotic Party MP, Late J. B Danquah Adu who was stabbed multiple times on February 9, 2016.
The former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North was killed in his house after an unknown assailant broke in whiles he was asleep. Police upon reaching the crime scene collected evidences including fingerprints and footprints to aide their investigations.
The lead investigator told the court that fingerprint samples of the MP’ s wife who is now the Member of Parliament, his children, the nanny working in his house, some surbonates of the MP, the driver and body were taken and investigated.
After thorough lab report, the Ghana Police Service has concluded that the result matches with that of the accused Daniel Asiedu who has pleaded not guilty. ” The report of the Police Forensic Bureau indicated that the fingerprints taken from the deceased’ s room were that of the fingerprints of first accused person (Daniel Asiedu) and the footprints were also identical to the size and form of Aseidu, ” he told the court. Daniel Asiedu, who was in tears initially told the court he has not been able to sleep for some days now.
He insisted he was contracted and given some amount of money to murder the late MP but later pleaded not guilty of the allegations. However, the latest investigation has proved that the suspect was at the crime scene and his fingerprints was detected on the weapon he used to stab Late Abuakwa North MP.
The State Prosecute told the Accra High Court that other suspect have been mentioned in this case and will move fast to arrest them to assist investigations.
