Health Minister In Fesh Trouble As Open Letter Flys

Just as the health minister, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu is about getting some relief from the public bash, his constituents are up in arms against him.

The Dormaa West legislator has been accused by his constituents of deception and non performance. In an open letter sighted by CitizenOne, a leader of the constituents and an NPP polling station executive who goes by the name Master Planner described the MP as incompetent. He said after the MP wasted 12 years in parliament with nothing to show, the minister promised in 2020 to construct a number of roads in the constituency.

The letter alleged that, the MP told his constituents that some projects in Dormaa Ahenkro including that of Aboabo, Twumkrom- Koradaso roads as well as CHPS compounds and Accident and Emergency Unit in the constituency had been given to contract.

He told them that the contractor handling one of the projects had contracted malaria and will return to site soon. But two years on, the roads are in sorry states while the health facilities are nowhere to be found.

The constituents are calling on the minister and MP to resign to save his little reputation left. Check the open letter below. ” Our elders say, whenever you want to make a request from your father; make sure to go to him on the day that he seems to be in a good mood.

It is for this reason that I have decided to write to you today, Honorable.

It was somewhere within the last quarter of 2020, that we heard sound of radio adverts on our various radio stations at Dormaa Ahenkro, citing a yet to be embarked road project as completed roads, better pit, asphalted.

Honorable, we over heard you on live radio programs that the contractor assigned to work on the Aboabo roads was affected with malaria when he travelled to his home country, Israel. However, you affirmed the  Aboabo roads would be completed before the 2020 elections convincing electorate that for this reason they should endorse both you and your presidential candidate in the then upcoming elections. This brought all of us some sort of relief as our roads had been in a deplorable state for quite sometime and hence, had been a huge source of worry and concerns for cummuters as it caused them alot of problems.

Twi years down the line, the story is in sharp contrast to what we were expecting and the state of the roads, no different from what it used to be.

Honorable, respectfully, are you proud of gbe present state of the TWUMKROM- KORADASO roads?

We are yet to see any contractor on site, the road has further deteriorated making the situation unbearable.

You commissioned CHPS compounds in November 2020 to influence your biding for your 4th term in office.

These CHPS compounds till date are serving the intended purpose but idle.

You also cut sods for the construction of an ACCIDENT and EMERGENCY CENTRE.

picture that were shown on the billboards is in sharp contrast from the reality on the ground.

I remember asking you on radio whether government hard Awarded the said ACCIDENT and EMERGENCY CENTRE to consract and as to whether the contract has received financial clearance from Parliament.

I challenged you to provide documentas to prove that the same awarded to a contractor and received financial clearance in Parliament.

The state of development in Dormaa Central is in jeopardy.

As usual you joined your colleagues on the majority side in Parliament to hide behind your unpopular excuse, We are waiting for E-Levy to be implemented so we can get funds to commence on projects when asked of frozen projects. I was shocked but I however had no opportunity to reply to your response knowing that funds for projects that begun before the 2020 elections should have be readily available.

Today, E-Levy is here so my question is, when should we expect work to.

I will end here by wishing that your newly established radio station will be allowed to channel the grievances of your people, and send a prayer your way asking the almighty to touch your heart in order that you can use your good office to steer development towards our dearest Dormaa Central Constituency”.

It is not certain if this petition will fly. This is because the president assured the minister that he will never sack him no matter what Ghanaians will say or do. He gave this bold assurance in Dormaa during a thank you tour. This was after the minister had been found guilty by a Parliamentary committee of inquiry which investigated the  Sputnik V vaccine procurement. Hon. Agyemang Manu admitted he did not follow due process in buying the 20 million dollar COVID 19 vaccine because the nation was in dire need of the vaccines.
