The National Communications Director of the largest opposition party, NDC, Sammy Gyamfi has recently taken the opportunity to react to the circulating news concerning the unexpected clash between the British High Commissioner and the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare.
Speaking in a recent on the ” Good Morning Ghana” show with host, Annie, the National Communications Director, Sammy Gyamfi revealed that, the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare’ s goofed off high time and that his response to the British High Commissioner was not right and hence, could have caused more harm than good to the country’ s bilateral relationship with the United Kingdom which is not expected to happen any time soon. ” This latest press release from the ministry of foreign affairs is a vindication of some of us.
It is a vindication of the stance we took on this matter that the 20th May 2022 letter of Inspector General of Police, Dr. Dampare to the British High Commissioner was in bad taste, high- handed, needless, and had the potential of jeopardizing Ghana’ s long- standing bilateral relationship with the United Kingdom.
Clearly, the ministry of foreign affairs is doing some damage control and has indirectly thrown IGP, Dampare under the bus, because he was not circumspect like the ministry of foreign affairs, which has been circumspect in this official release. He was not courteous, diplomatic and we should not be having such correspondences” , Sammy Gyamfi emphatically revealed.
