First of all they claim government is owing them months of arrears which should be paid. Moreover, Government pays only 97p per school child which to them is not enough considering the amount they spend on cooking.

According to others they went for loans to cook but because of Government refusal to pay them interest on the loan keeps increasing whiles banks chases them for their money. ” We want to see an increase in the grant from 97Gp to between GH¢2. 50 and GH¢3, ” she said. Another caterer, Veronica, said some of them had gone for loans to provide food for the children and their debtors were chasing them.

Rachel Yeboah said Although she had provided meals for eight months, she was yet to be paid.

As at now, their major concern is that prices of food items on the market have increased because of the economy therefore they will only return to the kitchen if Government increase the amount. Without it school children will keep starving.
