The renowned broadcast journalist has recently taken the opportunity to question the implications behind the incumbent government’ s initiative to plant over 5 million trees at the Achimota forest reserve and later end up doing the exact opposite.
Speaking on the most anticipated ” Johnnie’ s Bite” show on TV3 Network, Johnnie Hughes expressed his massive disappointment in the Akufo Addo government aside sending another bold message to the ruling party on the way forward considering how most Ghanaians are currently in a dilemma as to how the country is being governed. ” It does not make sense to me that just last year, we spent Ghc 12 million to plant 5 million trees.
Now, we go to Glasgow with a huge number and we go and give them our action plan for a fight against ‘ galamsey’ and climate change. Now we are finished with that, we are back into the Atiwa forest and now we are talking about a quarter of the Achimota forest.
The quality of the air you breathe around the Achimota forest is so clean and it’ s because of the trees. The colonists thought about us and created the Achimota forest but 92 years on, we decided to chop part of it off.
So, the question I ask is, does it make sense to spend money to plant trees and then cut trees” , the renowned TV3 morning show host, Johnnie Hughes emphatically queried.
