The member of parliament for North- Tongu on the ticket of the largest opposition party, NDC, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has recently come out to express immense worry concerning an unexpected demolition that nearly led to a serious war between Ghana and Nigerian.
Speaking in a recent interview on the ” Good Morning Ghana” show with host, Akwasi on Metro Television, the member of parliament for North- Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa revealed that, Ghana was nearly on the brink of war with its neighboring West African country, Nigeria over certain demolitions hence causing the interventions of the high commissioner to Nigeria, the foreign minister who described the situation as a provocation and aggression against their country [Nigeria] amongst others.”
This matter is another very serious matter. Demolition and embassy or high commission is not a matter that any country takes lightly. It is considered an act of aggression. It is seen as a declaration of war.
It is taking to invade that country because that is not your territory. So, these are great matters we are discussing. So, these are honest responsibilities imposed on any receiving state. Our foreign office staff and our diplomats enjoy the same privileges.
So, if I’ m our entire 65- year history we have never seen these demolitions before and then in just one of the President, two demolitions occur and you know how the Nigerians took that; they did not take it lightly at all, they summoned our high commissioner in Nigeria” , the member of parliament for North- Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa emphatically revealed.
