The Ag. Director for Research and Corporate Affairs (PURC), Dr. Eric Obutey has finally raised lots of concerns amongst Ghanaians after revealing that, a newly adjusted utility tariff is set to hit parliament on July 1, 2022.
Speaking in a recent interview on the most anticipated ” Newsfile” show on JoyNews with host, Samson Lardi Ayenini, the Ag. Director for Research and Corporate Affairs (PURC), Dr. Eric Obutey revealed that all hands are being put on deck in other to collaborate with the parliamentary select committee on mines and energy in the implementation of an adjusted utility tariff by early July 2022.
In addition to this, the newly adjusted utility tariff yet to be implanted by parliament alongside PURC is meant to augment the revenue of the incumbent government. ” We are about to finish the stakeholder consultations and coming week, we will be meeting with the parliamentary select committee on mines and energy.
They will be meeting with the TUC as well and we will start with the public hearings, meeting the general public, and thereafter, would come to a conclusion by doing the analysis before the commission comes in. The commission is looking at the 1st of July to come up with an adjusted tariff.
So, between now and June, 14, we will be having stakeholder engagement and the public hearings thereafter, I will do all the number crunching and then we will come up with the tariff by the 1st of July, 2022″ the Ag. Director for Research and Corporate Affairs (PURC), Dr. Eric Obutey emphatically revealed.
