The former tollbooth attendants who without prior notice lost their respective jobs due to the government’ s intervention to close down the booths have recently come out to besiege the incumbent government to come to their aid considering the current economic situation they currently find themselves in.
Speaking in a recent interview on CitiTube, one of the concerned former tollbooth attendants sadly revealed that, the government had abandoned them after being laid off six months ago even though they were promised their respective salaries which are currently in arrears.
With respect to this, the former tollbooth attendants later besieged the road ministry to demand salary arrears, reassignment, and other related incentives which were initially promised before the members of the association were laid off. ” Every Ghanaian is aware of what happened to the tolls.
Six months ago, we were at work when we were told that we were seizing the operation and the government made a promise that they were going to reassign every worker who was going to be laid off and that, we were also going to be paid until the reassignment was due.
We have been sitting at home for six months now and not a single salary has been given to us.
We can’ t pay our rent. What about my colleagues who are disabled, what are they going to do? Some of them have parents, children, and siblings” , the former tollbooth worker emphatically urged the road minister to come to their aid.
