The aide to the Late President, Jerry John Rawlings, Dr Donald Agumenu in his latest interview has revealed that he wanted his cremated body ashes splashed in the Achimota Forest to nourish and preserve the ecological sustainability of the green belt in Accra. Dr Donald Agumenu added that Late John Jerry Rawlings looked into the future and saw that the Achimota Forest can be in danger as it is happening now.
Before his death, Dr Agumenu claims Rawlings wanted his body burnt and used as a fertilizer to plant trees.
This revelation comes after His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo signed an Executive Instrument declassifying portions of Achimota Forest.
Reactions of Ghanaians after the EL are as follows ” How have we wronged you, Akufo- Addo? You gave Atewa to the Chinese, and now you want to desecrate Achimota? Next time when you see an old short man, you will think twice to consider. Achimota Forest too sold? ? What does global warming means to Prez Akufo Addo and his family and friends.
Nothing! ! Vanity upon Vanity haaba Npp! ! According to the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Abu Jinapor, the State compulsorily acquired land from Owoo Family for development as forest reserve. Family says you have not developed all the part into a reserve so let us exercise our right of re- acquisition.
In view of that, His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo has singed an act the waives part of the forest as no more a reserve zone but can be used. Government has therefore granted portions of the land acquired for forest reserve has been returned to the family.
Even though NDC communicators are insisting ACHIMOTA Forest has been sold, Hon. Abu Jinapor and Ministry has emphasized that the Forest has not been sold and will never be sold.
