The controversy around the Achimota Forest is still raging. The narrative began on Tuesdays, when news that the forest had been sold spread like wildfire. Later, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources appeared to calm suspicions that the forest had been sold.

Only a small fraction of the forest has been declassified and delivered to the land’ s original owners, according to Samuel Abu Jinapor.

However, one of the points of contention has been the release of hectares of land. Instead of the 118 hectares that had been settled upon, the Minister released over 361 acres. In his arguments, the Minister stated that they had just agreed to an existing arrangement reached during the John Mahama administration.

” I hope it’ s not true because if it is, it’ s a significant policy flaw that needs to be fixed right away, ” Osafo Maafo remarked at the time.

He was taken aback by the fact that, while other countries were attempting to turn their cities into forests, Ghana was doing the exact opposite.

Johnnie pondered where President Akuffo Addo adviser,  Addo’s Osafo Maafo, was now.

Osafo Maafo is the president’s top advisor and Johnnie wonders why he can tell the truth to power as he did under Kufuor.

Since 2013, Kwesi and a group of environmentalists and civil society organizations have fought to keep the site open.

He stated that the ministry’s explanation were insufficient. He promised that they would keep fighting and would not let this problem go to rest because it was a life and death situation.
