The finance minister has recently come out to finally clear the air on whether the Akufo Addo government will return to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or not.
Speaking in a recent conference amidst the media, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta undoubtedly took the stance aside emphatically highlighting that, the Akufi Addo government has put all hands on deck with the help of the controversial E- levy amongst other policies to improve upon the economy of the country.
In addition to this, Ken Ofori Atta later revealed that Ghana will not go back to the IMF under Akufo Addo’ s administration.
” We are members of the fund and there are two major points of intervention that we have from the fund. One is the advice we can get and second, these program interventions which bring us some resources.
I think if you see from the budget that we constructed for 2022, and the subsequent announcements that we have done, clearly the issue of Ghana having the capacity to think through the consolidation exercises and also discipline itself with regards to the 30% cuts that we have shown.
We have committed to jot going back to the find because, in terms of intervention of policy, we are right there. We are not turning back to IMF because we are on the right path” , the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta emphatically revealed.
