Sad- Popular “Labista” Actor Leo Mezie Confirm Died At Age 46, What Killed Him?


The Nollywood movie industry has been hit with sad news again as a popular actor has been confirm died.

Known in the entertainment circles as Leo Mezie, Leonard Chimezie Onyemachi died at age 46 on Saturday. According to sources, the actor died while recovering from kidney transplant.

The sad news was announced on Monday by his colleague, Chioma Toplis on his Instagram page. Toplis revealed that the actor died in a hospital in Abuja, Nigeria. Sharing some pictures of the actor, Toplis wrote ” Actor Leo Mezie is dead.

He died on Saturday in Abuja while recovering from a kidney transplant. His corpse has been moved to Umuahia his hometown. RIP Leo.

” According to a source on the internet, the actor was wrongly diagnosed with malaria, typhoid and pneumonia for over a year and the medications he was taking collapsed his kidney. When he couldn’ t bear the cost of treatment and kidney dialysis, he had to cry out for help.

His colleagues, fans and Apostle Johnson Suleman came to his rescue and money was raised for his treatment, kidney transplant. He however return back to Nigeria in November 2016 after several months of hospitalization at a hospital in London.

His Kidney problem however started again in 2019 and was admitted to Lagos Hospital. He had been in and out of the hospital for a while trying to get back on his feet until he succumbed to death over the weekend after developing complications.

Leo Meizie started career as an actor in 1996 when he joined the Nollywood movie industry. He started attending movie auditions and performeing as a minor character in his initial movies. However, he got his breakthrough and rose to stardom in 2003 when he featured in Nollywood blockbuster movie “Labista” alongside Emma Ehummadu, Jerry Amilo and Ernest Asuzu.
