The former Vice- Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Legon has recently come out to reveal another unexpected secret about Free SHS in the country.
Speaking in a recent interview on JoyNews, the former Vice Chancellor for the University of Ghana, Legon took the opportunity to reveal that, the Free Senior High School education run by the Akufo Addo government is undoubtedly worsening already aside from declining the state of secondary education in the country.
In addition to this, the former Vice Chancellor for the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest highlighted that not all Senior High school students should be considered for Free SHS considering how some parents could afford their ward’ s school fees amongst others.

” I don’ t believe that every single Ghanaian need to have his or her child in school for free. There are many Ghanaians who can afford it and should pay for it and there are many others who cannot afford it and should be assisted.
Simply making the system free in my view opens up many new challenges that cannot be solved and the benefits to the system as a result of this free system cannot be seen to be much larger than the cost of it. The cost of it as we have seen in the decline in inequality.
It is important to accept that, the decline in quality did not be with free SHS. Still, free SHS will make it worse for all the reasons that we have seen” , the former Vice Chancellor for the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest emphatically revealed.
