Akufo Addo Gov’t Finally ‘Exposed’ Again Over Free SHS Policy Brouhaha- Read Details.
The Executive director of Africa Education Watch has recently raised lots of concerns amongst Ghanaians after revealing another unbelievable secret about the free Senior High School education policy again.
Speaking in a recent interview on JoyNews, the Executive Director for Africa Education Watch, Kofi Asare took the opportunity to express his immense disappointment in the Akufo Addo government for neglecting Basic Education in Ghana aside from revealing that, Basic Education over the years has unexpectedly lost its 16% of its funding.
In addition to this, Mr. Kofi Asare later revealed that the free SHS policy by President Akufo Addo wasn’ t a social integration program but rather a political promise to Ghanaians hence its consequences on the economy of the country.
” I think that there is priority attention being accorded what is a political promise and not a mere social intervention, which is the free Senior High School and so, anytime an issue or case in Senior High Schools, for example, food, you will see a different level of approach by the Ministry of Education to solving the issue disturbing funds within hours.
But when the capitation grant is being delayed in schools two years, no one feels enough because no one was cited for on the basis of basic education.
So, the reality is that the urgency government accords Senior High School is because it is not just a social integration program, it is a political promise. Basic education has lost about 16% of its funding” , Kofi Asare emphatically revealed.
