The Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) has recently come out to unexpectedly defend the incumbent government again over the recent worst press freedom ranking that got most Ghanaians talking.
Speaking in a recent interview on the most anticipated ” Good Morning Ghana” show on Metro Television, the President of GJA, Mr. Affail Mooney unexpectedly revealed that, journalists at metro television receive pampered salaries unlike other media journalists across the country hence, employees must meet such criteria in other to boost the confidence of Ghanaian journalists across the country.
In addition to this, the GJA President, Mr. Affail Mooney later defended the incumbent government over the worst press freedom ranking whilst highlighting that the Akufo Addo government shouldn’ t be entirely blamed for the recent outcome of the rankings.
” The Ghana Journalist Association has taken the first significant step by unionizing all that it means is that we can now serve as intermediaries between our members, members underlined, and the employers. We have no issue with Metro Television, as we said Metro TV is overpowered when it comes to salaries.
The environment within which we work boosts the risk which is unimaginable but yet, even in the face of deep- set fatigue, and monstrous stress, we deliver peak performance.
Employers should pay journalists salaries that are commensurate with their output. The government is not entirely to be blamed for the worst press freedom ranking and I am not being unfair for saying this; I am just stating the facts. ” , the Ghana Journalist Association President, Mr. Affail Mooney emphatically revealed.
