The CEO of Ghana Telecoms has finally come out to reveal another unexpected secret about the controversial E- levy rollout challenges amongst other related issues.
Speaking in a recent interview on TV3 Network, the CEO of Telecoms, Ken Ashigbey took the opportunity to express his immense disappointment in the administration of the incumbent government and finance ministry aside revealing that, the stakeholders weren’ t offered enough time to test the system before the rollout of the bill on May 1, 2022, hence the current challenges and concerns raised by most Ghanaians and customers.
” For a project that would include over 300 charging entities and you know if you take mobile money alone, there are tens of millions of customers and then there are several use cases that’ s such a major project and one month time was not good enough for us to complete the process, test them and be able to assure customers that when we went live with it, the user experience would be good; there will be no major hitches.
So, we as stakeholders reached out to the Minister, explained and thought it was better for us to start collecting the E- levy with a system that we had tested and ready to go that would assure that government will get its taxes and the customer would not be unduly overburdened with major hedges” , Ken Ashigbey emphatically revealed.
