BREAKING NEWS: Bernard Okoye Boye Appointed CEO Of National Health Insurance

The President, His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo through a letter issued on 21st April, 2022 from the office of the Chief of Staff Madam Frema Opare Addo has appointed the Former Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku Mr. Bernard Okoye Boye as the new Chief Executive Officer Of National Health Insurance Authority.

Mr Bernard Okoye Boye was the Deputy Health Minister from 2017 to 2020. After the 2020 elections he unfortunately lost his Parliamentary seat together with ministerial appointment.

However, he gets his share of the New Patriotic Party cake as he has been given the mandate to serve as the substantive CEO for the Authority.

This appointment given by His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo according to the letter will take effect on 3rd May, 2022. Together with other board members, Dr Bernard Okoye Boye will be take witthe responsibility to secure the implementation of a national health insurance policy that ensures access to basic healthcare services to all residents.

For the purposes of achieving its object, the Authority may. Implement, operate and manage the National Health Insurance Scheme Determine in consultation with the Minister contributions that should be made by members of the National Health Insurance Scheme. With the numerous complaints from NHIA customers, Dr Bernard Okoye Boye is expected to lead the scheme to register a members of the National Healthy Insurance Scheme while solving it related problems with long queues, delay in service provision and non admission of card at some Government hospitals. He will also supervise private healthy insurance schemes and identify card members of the National Healthy Insurance Scheme.

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Okoye Boye was working as a doctor after losing his ledzokuku seat NDC ‘s Benjamin Ayiku Nartey who obtained 55,938 representing 50.48% as against Dr. Okoye Boye’s 54,072 translating into 48.79%
