The Vice- President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia during the burial of eight persons who were shot to dead in Zakoli in the Yendi District presented a sum of ¢60, 000 to help the funeral and others who were injured in the attack.
Unknown armed robbers attacked a group of Fulani herdsmen in Yendi. After bullets were fired, 8 fulanis died whiles the others sustained high degrees of injuries and were referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital. As Islamic customs demand, their corpses were taken from the hospital and laid to rest on Sunday, 17th April, 2022. Police carried intensive autopsy investigation after which the dead bodies were given back to the respective families.
Vice President Bawumia was present at the funeral to mourn with affected family and the community. As his way of consoling the families an amount of ¢60, 000 was donated to be shared by families involved. Families of each of the deceased recieved GH¢5, 000 to assist in the funeral rites whereas each of the injured persons also received GH¢5, 000 to support their medical bills and recovery.
His Excellency the Vice President Bawumia whiles presenting the cash to the Chief of the Community, Naa Abukari Andani for onward allocation to the victims, Dr Bawumia said the donation was an immediate intervention to mitigate the plight of the victims.
